E3 Part 1: Consoles

Ok ok, its been a long time since i have posted anything, my apologies. But as most of you people know, is that E3 occurred this week. So if you haven't heard, sony microsoft and nintendo released there new consoles, durring the E3 press conference check em out:

Playstation 3

Let me just say WOW. Sony is really putting all they can out there on this next gen console. The hardware alone is amazing. Also the graphics are outsanding; the use of real time over CG is overwhealming. The only thing im worried about is how many studios will support the Blue ray disks, it seems that the studios are splite between blue ray and HDDVD. So here are the specs:

  • It will support Blu-ray disks, DVD±R/W, CD-R/RW
  • Backwards compatability to both the PS2 and PS
  • One 3.2GHz Cell processor—total system performance rated at 2.18 teraflops
  • 256MB system RAM 3.2GHz, and 256MB GDDR VRAM at 700MHz
  • Memory Stick Duo slot, and SD and CF slots
  • Bluetooth support with up to seven wireless controllers
  • Six USB system ports

Xbox 360

So most of you people probably knew that the next gen Xbox was release announce a week before E3 on MTV, because all the true gaming fanboys love MTV. Durring their press conference, it seemed as they were trying to reach towards a different market. They preached that you can buy stuff on Xbox Live and use it to set up a business... yeah...idont get it either. They didn't try to shoot towards the hardcore gammers. Also I was dissapointed that I didn't see a new Halo game for a launch title for this new system. With this, i still believe that the Xbox will still be the best selling console for online gamming, that is a given, especially with the new console you can transfer your Xbox live account to the 360. Anyways here are the specs:

  • Support for DVD-video, DVD-Rom, DVD-R/RW, CD-DA, CD-Rom, CD-R, CD-RW, WMA CD, MP3 cd, JPEG photo CD
  • Customizable face plates to change appearance
  • Support for 4 wireless controllers
  • 3 symmetrical cores at 3.2 GHz each
  • 512 MB GDDR3 RAM

Nintendo Revolution

So Nintendo's press conference went really well... well really quick I should say. Not too much information was released about this new console during the conference. There were no information about any games being realeased and there was no controller displayed, which makes me think that Nintendo will come up with another fancy controller liket the the 64 and gamecube. So this is what we know:

  • All-Access Gaming, which refers to backwards compatibility to 20 years of Nintendo games, NES, SNES, N64. We don’t know particulars
  • Downloadable to 512MB of flash memory
  • SD memory card slot
  • Wireless controllers
  • Two USB 2.0 ports
  • Built-in WiFi
  • WiFi used to interface with the DS
